This week we spotted a 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 Convertible being listed by Legendary Motors in Rowley, Massachusetts. Luckily for collectors they only offered a Super Sport Impala as an SS 427 that year, increasing its collector value today. In fact, 1969 was the last year for the SS Impala. But by 1969 sales tapered off for the Impala SS models. For a car that big it handled like it was on rails and the power was unrestrainable. For 1966 through 1968 there was a high performance SS 427 version of the Impala that really earned a lot of street credit. The Impala SS retained its performance image through 1968. ![]() After 1965 the Impala turned into a larger sedan sized car and sold very well at the Chevrolet dealerships. Although the Chevrolet Impala was one of the most popular cars of all time, collectors are most enamored of the Super Sport version. ![]()
